After the Golden Era before the Great War during which Durham appeared in 10 English County Finals, the years following the War were among the most difficult experienced in the history of the County reflecting the social conditions of the times. Between December 1924 and December 1928, Durham County did not win a single Championship game.
1928 saw a revival in playing fortunes and Durham under Carl Aarvold's captaincy, reached the 1932 Final having recorded a win in all their seven games, only to lose to the Gloucestershire team by 9pts to 3, this game being played at Blaydon RFC's Stella Ground, with the Gloucester side recording their 3rd Consecutive win in the Competition.
Amongst the Hartlepool players in the side, Ted Gissing later that year joined the Rugby League and Bob Corner turned professional in the 1934 both joining Hull. Bob Corner had a very successful career on Humberside, being part of the Hull team that won the League Championship, then the Yorkshire League title and in 1937 he played for the Rugby League X111 against France at York.

Location
Like the pre-Great War years, few images appear to have survived on the County XVs from the restart in 1919 even into the post War period. One highlight was the appearance of the County XV in the 1932 Final.
