The successful BBOB side that won the Durham County Junior Cup in 1937, beating Sunderland Rovers at Clarence Road, by 15 pts to Nil and thus emulating Sunderland FC who won the F.A. Cup that year and by coincidence the next time BBOB won the Junior Cup was 1973, the same year that Sunderland next won the FA Cup!
The club had reached the Junior Cup Final the previous season losing to West Hartlepool E.R.O.B. also on Clarence Road, on that occasion going down by 12 pts to 6. Brigade built on the success of this Cup winning season, to remain undefeated in season 1937/38 adding the lifting of the Pyman Cup against Rovers to their honours board. They had been placed in the Second Teams Cup against either West or Horden but the was not played and they carried all before them.
