An action short probably from the game on 5th September, 1953 when West beat Harrogate 19 – 8 on the Greyhound Stadium in Clarence Road, Reg Turner prominent with the ball is leading the attack. On Reg’s left is Eric Barker just behind Eric is Mike Peart and behind Mike half hidden is probably Jack Maughan
On the far left of the West players’ is Danny Noddings.
The first Harrogate player on the right, wearing a head guard, is Ian Black. The big Harrogate player in the middle is Gordon Frank.
West’s opening game at this period featured the Yorkshire side and two years later on 4th Sept 1955 they again saw off the Tykes challenge with a 15 – 9 win.
