West Hartlepool 1st XV at the end of the 01/1902 season, the most successful of the Jack Taylor era, he himself being England Captain, but the next decade saw the Club Dominant, Disbanded and Disinterred.
Season 01-02 saw the club undefeated until the 8th March, a 5 – 3 defeat at home to Old Boys, only four defeats all season and as this picture shows the Club held the Durham County Senior Cup for a second time, defeating Hartlepool Rovers on Hollow Drift in Durham City by 12 - 0. This appearance in the 1902 Final was their fourth in a row and they were to play in the next two Finals in 03 and 04, a run of six consecutive Finals.
This season also ended with a game with the Barbarians, the only time the club played this famous club and West ran out winners by 25 -4.
