Crew February 1880:

Miller, Edward, chief mate

Voyages: 26 February 1880 Amanda left Ria Marrina, Italy with a cargo of 1,520 tons of iron ore & a total crew of 21 bound for Workington. On 9 March 1880 the vessel stranded at St Bee’s Head. Part of her cargo was discharged & she was refloated & anchored for the night. The following morning it was found that her main tank was full of water. She was got safely into Barrow where she was damaged in the fore part. The chief officer, Edward Miller, was found to blame for the casualty. He held a master’s certificate which was suspended for three months: August 1888 from Neder Kalix for Lisbon with a cargo of wood Amanda was stranded at Husvalla.
