1953 - Hartlepool Rovers v Hartlepool Old Boys' - Senior Cup

One of several pictures featuring several the Old Boys 1st XV players on this site, taken prior to the Senior Cup 1st Round tie between Rovers and Old Boys on the New Friarage, 7th February 1953. A win for Rovers who went on to the Final before losing to City

The corrugated sheeting making up the Nissen Huts of the Rovers clubhouse are clearly visible in the background. The Huts had been acquired from the Prisoner of War Camp at Featherstone near Haltwhistle by Fred Peart and served the club until 1966 when they were cleared to make way for the present Rovers clubhouse.

 The Old Boys players are Joe Parkes, Jim Milburn, Bob Deighton (or Bob Andrews) and probably Derek Spence.
