The only Cup poster to survive from this Golden period, however the outcome was an unsuccessful visit to Ashbrooke for Rovers, when they returned empty handed having gone down to Durham City by just 3 pts to 0.
The Final and its aftermath was not so golden though, Rovers had a player sent off, Sivewright missed a vital penalty to bring them level, one touchjudge raised his flag but changed his mind, no goal. The Ref was "interviewed" afterwards and confirmed his decision. The following week the teams met again at Hartlepool, Rovers won, but another player sent off. At the June County AGM, Arthur Hill made a self-appointed attempt to have the Cup withdrawn from City, protest turned down!
The clubs met yet again in September at Hartlepool another win and normal relations resumed!

A series of images highlighting the outstanding run by Rovers in reaching every Senior Cup Final between 1905 and 1913, every one resulted in a win except for 1910 when they went down to Durham City on Ashbrooke. The years 1905-09 saw the side under the Captaincy of George Carter, who during the same period was a regular member of the Durham County Championship sides and played against the all Blacks, South Africa and Australia.
The club declined to take part in the 13/1914 Competition but had the satisfaction of defeating the winners Westoe on the two occasions the sides met that campaign.
