Another forgotten side from Northumberland, The Borough of Tynemouth F.C, holders of the Northumberland Cup in 1883 and 1885 which also produced players for the Northumberland County XV.. Formed in October of 1874, the club played at Preston Avenue, North Shields, later the home of Percy Park RFC. Tynemouth players were part of a Coast XV (with Percy Park and Rockcliff) that lost to the visiting Maori side in 1888 and as early as 1886 had proposed amalgamation with Park. The amalgamation did not come off and they eventually folded in 1889/1890 season.

The Robt.Wood collection has enabled the names of some of the many early Rugby clubs in the region to survive, with the popularity of the Rugby Code clubs sprang up in many areas in the 1880s, as that decade rolled on many either ceased playing (finding a field was a regular problem) some amalgamated and as a such survive today albeit under another name.
