The steamship Hebburn was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UB-91, east of Cork, on September 25th, 1918. The ship was on a voyage from Barry to an unknown destination with coal and general cargo.
Six of the crew were lost including Hartlepool-born Robert Henderson.
The other crewmen who lost their lives were: Arthur, Robert; Cooper, Richard; Craner, Sydney James; Huggitt, John William; Monios, Jose.
