Fate
The steamship St. Andrews was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UC-38, 4 miles west of Cape Spartivento, Calabria, Italy, on June 13th, 1917. The ship was on a voyage from Karachi to Marseilles with a cargo of grain.
3 crew were lost including West Hartlepool-born Fireman/Trimmer Thomas Kay, J. Hayes of Kinsale, and James Gow Morgan of Aberdare.
