Fate

Under Captain R. Stonehouse the British steamship Brunhilda was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UB-31 (Thomas Bieber) off Start Point, Devon, on July 11th, 1917. The ship was on a voyage from San Rafael to Sunderland with a cargo of bauxite and esparto grass. The crew had time to launch their own boats & were picked up by a drifter & landed at Plymouth. No lives were lost. Master R. Stonehouse.
