The Saxon public house, Easington Road, Hartlepool which opened on November 23rd 1967. The name referred to a Saxon cross which had at some point been found nearby at the cross roads where West View Road met the road to Hart.
It is now closed and is currently boarded up.
The Saxon opened on 25th November 1967 as the advert shows. Inside it was decorated with prints of knights and their ladies, spears, criss crossed beams and 'flaming' electric torches to reflect the Saxon name. A framed version of the Magna Carta graced the wall.
