The Woodcutter public house , Kingsley Avenue, Hartlepool opened on September 4th 1961.Scottish and Newcastle Breweries had wanted it to be called 'The Wee Willie' but local licensing authorities said that it was an inappropriate name for the area.
It was closed around 2014 and demolished around 2015 to make way for housing.

Donated by Hartlepool Museum ServiceThe Woodcutter opened on September 4th 1961 in Kingsley Avenue. It was built by local contractor WW Brazell and plumbing was done by Edgar Phillips. At the side of the pub was an off licence.
