George Herbert Todd was born in West Hartlepool around 1883, to parents John (born Whitby, around 1837), and Elizabeth Todd (born London, around 1836).
The 1881 Census shows John (who worked for a Timber Merchant), and Elizabeth living with their children Thomas E. (aged 10), George Herbert (aged 8), Mabel (aged 5), niece Elizabeth E. Newton (aged 14), and Servant Emma Sweetman (aged 16).

George (listed as an Engineer living at No.10, Rium Terrace, West Hartlepool), married Ada Isabel Rawe (living at No.9, Fountain Terrace, West Hartlepool), at Christ Church, West Hartlepool, on September 9th, 1908. Thomas E. Todd and Joseph Rawe were the Witnesses.
George's father is listed as a Timber Merchant, and Ada's as a Captain.

Ada is recorded as living at No.44, Milton Street, West Hartlepool, at the time of George's death.
