South Road, West Hartlepool, was just west of the Cenotaph and was demolished when the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre was built.
The Artillery Barracks were in Alliance Street on the Headland. They were built in 1859-1861 and demolition began in 1961, although parts of walls remained till 1963.
