James Frederick Watson was born at West Hartlepool around 1878, to parents Frederick and Janet.
In 1904 James married Lilian May Pierson (born Great Yarmouth), and the 1911 Census shows them living at No.7 Park Street, West Hartlepool, with son James Ernest (aged 7), and daughter Irene (4). James is now listed as a Shipyard Labourer.
At the time of James' loss in 1916, the family were living at No.30, Alfred Street, West Hartlepool.
