Thomas Armstrong was born at Stranton, West Hartlepool around 1860, to parents Robert and Margaret Armstrong.
The 1871 Census shows Thomas to be one of ten children; Robert (aged 21, occupation Smith), William (17), Richard (15), and John (13) - all Dock Labourers, Thomas (11), Catherine (9), Jane (6), Obediah (3), and Charles (2).
On July 4th, 1897, Thomas married Selina Ramsay at St. Gabriels Church, Canning Town, London. Selina was living at No.75, Ling Rd., Canning Town, at the time of Thomas' death.
