Son of John and Sarah Leng (nee Drewery), of Boston, Lincolnshire. Married Mary Ann Stephenson (born Filey, 1844 - died Whitby, 1874), at Whitby. The 1881 Census shows Frederick living with his second wife Annie E. Leng (born Filey, 1859), and two sons, Thomas W. (born Whitby, 1867), and Frederick (born Whitby, 1873).
Was lost on the steamship Magdeburgon November 14th, 1884.
