Enfield - a general history

Masters: 1885-93 C Vasey.

Enfield left St Petersburg on 24 July 1887 bound for Amsterdam with a cargo of 2,500 tons of grain, a crew of 23 hands & four passengers. On the afternoon of 27 July she grounded at Grasgard on the Island of Oland in the Gulf of Bothnia. After a few days when some of her cargo was jettisoned & some transferred to another vessel she was got off & taken to Stockholm for repairs to material damage.
