Treby - a general history

Treby 1838-1847

Sunderland: one deck; two masts; carvel built wood brig; 235g; 84.6 x 22.7 x 15.0.

Owners: 1845 Thomas Wilson Elstob (gentleman) Camberwell, Surry & Robert Elstob Hutton, Hartlepool

Masters: 1845-47 Thomas Hutchinson.

Voyages: 22 Octber 1845 bound for Hartlepool she went ashore on the outer dyke, off Belum in the Malaysian Peninsular.

On a voyage from Sunderland for Alexandria Treby struck on a sunken rock & was wrecked on the coast of Egypt two miles west of Port Saloelm, 220 miles west of Alexandria, on 25 April 1847. No lives lost. Loss recorded by letter from Thomas Hutchinson, master, Hartlepool Customs House.
