Mountby - a general history

Shields Daily News, Monday, January 5th, 1903:
WEST HARTLEPOOL STEAMER OVERDUE. The steamer Mountby, owned by Messrs. R. Ropner and Co., Hartlepool, is about twelve days overdue on the passage from Wilmington (North Carolina), with cargo of cotton. No serious anxiety is entertained by the owners respecting her safety, it bring considered probable that the delay of the vessel is due to her being “foul."
