On a voyage from the Baltic for London with a cargo of wood & iron on 10 November 1878 Farnley Halltook on a pilot, Edward James Denton, at Gravesend & proceeded to steam up the Thames. The Hartlepool steamer Morna was behind her & when the lead vessel slackened her speed for Cuckold’s Point Morna ran into her striking her on the port quarter cutting her down to the bilge. The pilot of Morna,Henry Whittingham Allen, was found to blame for approaching Cuckold’s Point at too great a speed.

On a voyage from Nikolaiev for Marseille with a cargo of wheat Grignano foundered in ice 4 miles off Nokolaiev on 2 January 1898.
