Dalmally - a brief history

Built: 1889 by Messrs Edward Withy & Co., Hartlepool. Yard No 164. Launched on 17th July 1889 by Miss Rosina Wyllie.
 
Owners: Built for George Horsley & Co. 1899 owners restyled Horsley Line Ltd. 1912 sold to Russian owners, G.W.Schroeder of Riga & renamed Truvor.
 
Notes: March 1896 a cargo of cotton stacked on the quay side at Mobile was destroyed by fire before the vessel arrived.
Tuesday May 5th 1896 the Dalmally struck the pier head whilst docking at Liverpool, damaging her bows.
 
Loss: Torpedoed by submarine U45 (Erich Sittenfeld) off Cape (Mys) Zyp-Navolok, Arctic 3rd May 1917, 70.08N, 33.07E whilst on a voyage from the Tyne to Russia with a cargo of coal, there where no casualties.
