Shields Daily Gazette, Saturday, 22nd June, 1889:
"The screw-steamer Daventry, built by Messrs. Withy & Co. for Messrs. Sivewright, Bacon, and Co, had her trial trip yesterday morning. The engines, of 200 horse-power, and fitted with Morrison's patent evaporator, are by Messrs. T. Richardson and Sons. The trial was in every way satisfactory, a speed of 10½ knots being attained."
