Bound from North Shields for Sheerness with a cargo of coal & a crew of eight, in thick fog, Mary & Emily was run down & sunk by the West Hartlepool steamer Primrosein the South-West Reach near the mouth of the Thames whilst in tow on 22 February 1891.
