It is 3rd August 2015 and Jason Leonard, President of the Rugby Football Union in World Cup Year 2015, visits Catcote Road along with England Sevens star Ollie Phillips and the Rugby World Cup Road show to officially open West Hartlepool’s new development which was one of the biggest RFU Legacy developments costs at around £1,000, 000.
Jason was a prop forward with Saracens and Harlequins who won 114 Caps for England and five for the British & Irish Lions. His total of 119 was a world record until 2006, when is was overtaken by George Gregan the Australian scrum half. As part of that wonderful total Jason played in England teams that won four Grand Slams (1991, 92, 95 and 2003) and the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and was part of the Lions Squad that won the test series during their 1997 tour of South Africa under Fran Cotton.
