1904 - Kent v Durham County - Blackheath

What we know about this image :

Durham almost mirrored 1903 when they had had a strong run in the County Championship to make it yet again the Final. This time they had to travel to Blackheath to take on Kent. It was not to be the same outcome for this season; Kent came out winners by 8 pts to 6pts.

Like 1903, the RFU turned out a Rest of England XV against Durham in December, this time on the Friarage Field.

Among the players, Tom Hogarth played for England and carried on playing until the 1920s, by then with Grays Athletic in the Pyman League, George Carter went on to hold every Office n the County, Phil Clarkson became the first man to score a try against the All Blacks while Frank Boylen joined Hull K.R. and won every honour that code offered. He managed York in the 20s and turned out for them at the age of 43!
