Fate

The steamship Ventmoor was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UC-37, off Skyros in the Aegean, on February 14th, 1918. The ship was on a voyage from Mudros, Greece, to Sfax, Tunisia.

Twenty one crew were lost including Hartlepool-born Chief Engineer William Wake.
