Fate

Bound from Methil for Oran with a cargo of coal & a crew of twenty Edinburgh was sunk during thick fog in a collision with the Dundee steamer London two nautical miles west of Haisborough Light on 13 February 1913.

A dinghy was lowered & twelve men got into it, two were picked up from the water & two managed to scramble aboard the London.

Survivors stated that the master saw to the safety of his crew before going down with his ship. Four lives lost.

Crew 1913: McIntosh, David, steward; Mitchell, Joseph, chief officer.

Lives lost 1913: Baird, Charles, master, Montrose; Martin, lamptrimmer; Raymond, fireman; Woods, second mate.
