Fate

Miranda left Kingston, Jamaica on 7 June 1877 with a crew of 10 having been chartered with a cargo of sugar & rum for London calling at Annota Bay on the way. Whilst in charge of the mate she went aground on Folly Reef & broke up on 11 June 1877. A portion of the cargo was saved. At the subsequent inquiry both the master & mate were found guilty of neglect. The master’s certificate was supended for six months & the mate’s for three months. Master - John Watson.
