4th Durham Artillery Volunteers Band.

We have been informed by Megan Smiles that her Great Grandfather Jonathan Burnett is in the 2nd row from the bottom and 4th person from the right. He played the cornet and was the bandmaster between 1881-1902 then continued as vice bandmaster.

Sitting to the right of him is his son,and the Grandfather of Megan Smiles, also Jonathan Burnett who played the clarinet in the band.

The Tommy Lough Orchestra 'always good dancing at the Rink is on the banner under an advert for Michael Wilding in Into the Blue at the Odeon which was released in 1950.

The band were resident at the Rink in the early 1950s. In Hartlepool Mails for 1950 and 51, the female vocalist was Lynn Burns, Al Bowring played Cavioline and Saxophone and Joe Dennis was also a vocalist. In1952, Mabel Bew was shown as a female vocalist. Therefore the lady on the image could be Lynn Burns or Mabel Bew.

Date unknown but probably mid to late 1940s and the image is taken at The Rink.

This unknown orchestra is pictured in the Town Hall, West Hartlepool, and dates to around the 1920s or '30s. The violinist indicated is George Robinson. 

The Church Street Presbyterian Church Choir at an unknown location, around 1900.

The 'Rodney Royals' Juvenile Jazz Band in 1959/60. This band was formed by Mattie, Amy and Dick Shaw.

Celebrating King George V's Silver Jubilee at Northgate, Hartlepool in 1935. Stan Johnston is in the front row of the band, on the left (with the trombone), with Wilfred Johnston in the second row, extreme right, standing next to the lady with the white headscarf.

An un-named group of six musicians strike a pose outside the Picture House. This image is undated, however, the film "Slightly Used" was released in 1927, and "Soft Living" in 1928.
