The steamship Orfordness was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-60, off Newquay on July 20th, 1918. The ship was on a voyage from Rouen to Barry in ballast.
Two crew were lost including West Hartlepool-born Norman Mingo Marston and Thomas Stanfold William Fisher of Hull.
