From Sea Breezes, August 1964: The Lucian and Crosbian were intended for the Liverpool to Lisbon and Oporto service operated by Ellerman Lines; twin-screw vessels, their two 6-cylinder Polar oil engines were designed to give a speed of about 12.5 knots. In more recent years the Lucian was frequently on the London to Oporto run, sailing regularly from London Dock under the agency of Coverly, Westray, Walbaum and Tosetti, who have a long connection with the Oporto trade.
Taken over at London, the Lucian hoisted the Greek flag, came round to Liverpool under her new name of Amorgos, where she part-loaded and then proceeded to Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, to complete before sailing for Piraeus at the end of May.
