Hartlepool has six main rugby clubs in the town. Hartlepool, Hartlepool BBOB, Hartlepool Rovers, Seaton Carew, West Hartlepool, West Hartlepool TDSOB.
The game has been played in the Hartlepool district since as early as 1873, and many of the players involved over the years have gone on to play at every Representative level including the England XVs, Barbarians and British Lions.
Following the Rugby World Cup in England in autumn of 2015, the Hartlepool and District clubs began to work together with the Hartlepool Libraries and Museum Services to record the rich local history of Rugby Union Football in the town and district. The clubs are adding information to photographs already on this website, plus adding new items from their own, private collections.
Anyone with photographs or similar material suitable for inclusion is invited to contact the Secretary of the Hartlepool & District RFU Mr Chris McLoughlin, on chrismcl@btinternet.com
