Miscellaneous: March 1841 the mate committed suicide by hanging himself off the mainboom while the schooner was berthed at Hamburg. He left a note in which he requested that his possessions be given to his daughter who lived at Shields; Monday 23 August 1841 Joseph Pickard, master, was charged at Lancaster Police Court with a brutal assault on Robert Devine, apprentice. He had hit him on the arm & face with an umbrella & then struck him with his fist & kicked him. A member of the crew, Thomas Helme, witnessed the assault. Pickard was fined £5 & Devine’s indentures were cancelled.

Voyages: 1844 Hartlepool for the Baltic.

Bound from Hartlepool for Swinemunde Magnet was struck by a heavy sea during a north easterly gale & was totally lost in the North Sea off Bridlington at 6pm on 17 March 1846. The crew were picked up & landed at Bridlington.
