Evenwood - a general history

Built at Sunderland.

Owners: 1837 Botcherby, Stockton-on-Tees; 1838 Hartlepool Original Shipping Co, Stockton-on-Tees; 1843 purchased for £860  Phoenix Shipping Co (William Lisle, Joshua Byers & Thomas Tait) Hartlepool.

Masters: 1837 H Cross; 1838-42 Everett; 1842-44 William Kearsley; 1844-45 H Proctor.

Bound from Quebec for Liverpool on 30 November 1845 Evenwood was driven onto the west side of Loch Carloway on the island of Lewis dismasted & decks gone. Her cargo was washed out & there was no sign of the crew. All lives lost.
