With the dissolution of the Hartlepool & Durham Shipping Co an auction was held on 15 April 1851 at the Wheat Sheaf Inn at Hartlepool to sell all 12 of their vessels including the Martindale.
Voyages: 11 March 1839 bound from Hartlepool put into Grimsby leaky & with her cargo shifted; 1847 Hartlepool coaster; 1862 on a voyage between Hartlepool & London the master, John Smith of Hartlepool, suffered a stroke &, after being taken to Lowestoft Infirmary, died the following day.
Bound from Hartlepool for Pagersand Martindale was sunk by ice near Cuxhaven on 4 February 1871. No lives lost.
