With the dissolution of the Hartlepool & Durham Shipping Co an auction was held on 15 April 1851 at the Wheat Sheaf Inn at Hartlepool to sell all 12 of their vessels including the Monkwearmouth.

Voyages: 1840 Stockton-on-Tees for Quebec; 1844 Hartlepool coaster; 10 May 1847 from L’Orient for Quebec; 1853 Shields for France.

Monkwearmouth sailed from Sunderland on 30 April 1877 with a cargo of coal. On 19 May she ran ashore near Reval & filled with water. Some of her rigging & stores were saved.
