More detail »Tunstall Manor was built in 1895/6, designed by architect T.L. Banks. It was commissioned by Matthew Gray, elder son of Sir William Gray. Matthew, however, died in 1896 before the house was completed and it was taken over by his younger (and only) brother, William Cresswell Gray. The house was in the area where Manor Road is now. The gatehouse is still on the corner of Cresswell Drive and Serpentine Road, where the arched entrance can be seen although it is now a room of the house. William Cresswell Gray died in 1924, and the house was demolished some years ago.
